Trekking and Trails

The sphinx of Gallura
A monolith of 10 metres height and 15 metres length. They say that the face belongs to ‘zio Maltinu’, a shepherd that was found dead right at the feet of this rock that he had loved so much. The rock, fascinating in many ways, can be reached from our farm – as part of a guided tour or on your own.

BLOC BOULDERING
The Lu Branu Bloc area is situated on a big panel, visible from the street on the entrance to the agriturismo. In this sector Sardinia’s hardest boulder has been climbed – an 8a+ by Finnish climber Nalle Hukkataival. Boulder is a diverse climbing style that harmonizes perfectly with the plenty of different rocks present especially at Lu Branu and in Gallura in general.

Educational nature trail
A chance for everyone to discover the Mediterranean Flora. The plants along the way are equipped with descriptions. At the trail’s end, you will find stone banks close to a pond where you can rest, enjoy the surrounding nature under the trees and deepen your knowledge.

Monte Cuore - the Heart Mountain
After a path of ca. 20 min that leads you from the farm to the mountain base a steep, but easy ascent begins. At the end, you will find a craggy way where some climbing is needed. Easily and without any ropes you arrive on the top of the Heart Mountain (Monte Cuore) where a breath-taking view awaits you.

The bandit's shell
The shell had been used from the Neolithic age until the charcoal burners’ arrival – for a while it was a refuge for local bandit Laicu Roglia. Sources like the book ‘old Gallura chronics’ tell us the story of a meeting between a huntsman and the bandit, at early dawn. You can explore the shell with a guide or just get there on your own after a short walk.

Punta Maltinu
The highest point of the surrounding mountains. The trail passes from Monte Cuore via Monti Tundu and is a real naturalistic highlight: You will come across fields, rocks, and old farm-houses. It is a difficult track not so much because of the trail itself but because of its duration: You should invest half a day for this hike in order to properly enjoy the galluresian landscape.
